Quite simply, in Layered Practice™ we take dynamic principles from t'ai chi, yoga, meditation and ancient qi gong (chi kung)...

...as well as vital modern medical theories, relaxation methods and key motivational techniques used by today's athletes.

... and DO THEM SIMULTANEOUSLY, rather than one at a time.

Why does it take 2.5 – 3 hours to learn a four minute technique?

We need time to teach and create value for each of powerful mind and body skill used in the Layered Practice™ technique. It’s a bit like learning 4 minutes of a Mozart piano sonata.

First learn the right hand, then the left, then add heart for maximum value.

People who practice this easy, but powerful style of tai chi breathing will create an automatic reflex known to scientists as a “relaxation response”. This reflex is dependable and effective, and very easy to create.

How does 4 Minute Fitness change thought patterns?

We use a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to change thoughts from negative to positive. It is so simple, and wonderfully effective.

Participants learn secrets that will program a vital part of the brain - a part that we all have - that can lead us to a wondrous and joyous life. Some people notice life changing results almost immediately!

PLUS - participants learn motivational techniques used by professional athletes to be the best they can be, to get the most from each day!

It just takes a few minutes a day. The mind exercises are added to the gentle movement.


How does 4 Minute Fitness change the chemical balance in our brains?

Besides the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, we offer other methods to decrease the dangerous stress hormones (cortisol and adrenaline) and increase the brain neurotransmitters that create a sense of peace, joy, bliss, love and gratitude. Again - simple as pie.

Low, but persistent levels of those stress hormones have been linked to many of the chronic disease processes that devastate our health. We MUST find ways to keep them as low as possible. 4 Minute Fitness offers several solutions.


How does it make us feel more relaxed so quickly?

All the above methods help, but we also include deep tai chi breathing techniques that create what scientists call an automatic "relaxation response". This reflex is rapid, dependable and effective, and very easy to create.


How does it improve immune function? 

One major component of the immune system is lymph - a fluid that cleans, nourishes and detoxifies cells. Lymph travels through miles of vessels that, unlike blood vessels, do not have a heart as a pump. Most lymph is in the core (torso) and it only circulates effectively with body movement. 4 Minute Fitness combines powerful movement and breathing techniques that, when combined, produce an incredible movement of lymph. thereby enhancing immune function.
 

Feel better with less pain

In just under 3 hours, participants learn key principles from tai chi and yoga that will gently move and stretch most muscles and joints, increasing circulation and flexibility. “Motion is lotion”, according to many health specialists - we must keep moving to stay well. And even better, the exercises will improve balance & increase strength.

Many of the body and mind exercises are also designed to effectively reduce pain. We will use the mind to decrease pain.

Physical stress reduction 

Physical stress can be caused by poor breathing. We are composed of something like 60,000,000,000,000 cells that need oxygen. Most of us breathe so poorly that those cells are just barely getting enough oxygen, creating significant physical stress.

4 Minute Fitness incorporates deep tai chi breathing techniques that nourish cells. But more importantly - natural automatic breathing gradually improves with daily practice.

Most participants leave with hope, motivation and commitment to the process. You can ensure long term daily compliance by providing the 4 Minute Fitness™ DVDs or videos to each participant for at home practice. If your budget is small, they will be available for sale at the end of the session.  

As well, we encourage you to allow employees to practice 4 minutes during working hours. Some schools and organizations play the “follow along” portion of the DVD over their systems on a regular basis.

Is this exercise like aerobics or weight lifting

Absolutely. We teach 4 Minute Fitness™ standing or sitting, so it can be done by anyone in your office. As well, the video/DVD teaches the moves from a sitting position.
